PlayStation Emulator Setup

PlayStation systems range from simple disc images to installed titles with firmware. Pick the section matching your platform.

PlayStation with DuckStation

  1. Add DuckStation from Platforms.
  2. Add your PlayStation system and ROM folder.
  3. Select DuckStation as the platform.
  4. Add the requested BIOS file.
  5. Finish setup and test a game.

Use cue files for games stored as bin and cue pairs. Selecting the bin file often loses disc layout information.

PlayStation 2 with PCSX2

  1. Add PCSX2 from Platforms.
  2. Open PCSX2 once and finish its first-run wizard.
  3. Add a PlayStation 2 system in HyperHQ.
  4. Select the folder containing your ISO, CHD, or supported disc files.
  5. Select PCSX2 and add your BIOS file.
  6. Test one game before importing a large library.

Multi-disc games may appear as separate versions. Use game variations or an M3U playlist when you want one wheel entry.

PSP with PPSSPP

PPSSPP does not need a BIOS file.

  1. Add PPSSPP from Platforms.
  2. Add a PSP system.
  3. Select your ISO, CSO, or game folder.
  4. Select PPSSPP and finish setup.

PlayStation 3 with RPCS3

RPCS3 needs PlayStation 3 system firmware. Install firmware inside RPCS3 before adding games to HyperHQ.

HyperHQ handles two common game types:

  • Direct game folders and disc images
  • Titles installed or registered inside RPCS3

For an installed title, HyperHQ uses the game title ID. A title ID looks like BLUS31505. Refresh the system after installing a package in RPCS3 so HyperHQ sees the final title entry.

  1. Install firmware and one game in RPCS3.
  2. Add RPCS3 from Platforms.
  3. Add a PlayStation 3 system.
  4. Select your source folder.
  5. Finish the import.
  6. Refresh Games after RPCS3 finishes installing any package content.

PlayStation Vita with Vita3K

Vita3K launches installed games by title ID.

  1. Install Vita firmware inside Vita3K.
  2. Install and open one game in Vita3K.
  3. Add Vita3K from Platforms.
  4. Add a PlayStation Vita system.
  5. Import the installed games.

If a game has no title ID, finish its installation inside Vita3K and refresh the HyperHQ system.

PlayStation 4 with ShadPS4

ShadPS4 support focuses on installed titles with a recognized title ID.

  1. Finish game installation inside ShadPS4.
  2. Add ShadPS4 from Platforms.
  3. Add a PlayStation 4 system.
  4. Import the installed games.

Compatibility changes between emulator releases. Test each game inside ShadPS4 before troubleshooting the HyperHQ launch.

Saves

HyperHQ recognizes save states for DuckStation, PCSX2, and PPSSPP. RPCS3 and Vita platforms use their normal game-save folders.

Close the emulator before backup or restore work. See Saves and Backups.
