Using HyperMarquee

HyperMarquee puts system and game artwork on a separate display. It works well with a cabinet marquee screen, a stretched LCD panel, or another monitor above the main display.

HyperHQ installs and manages HyperMarquee.

Before you start​

Connect the marquee display and confirm Windows sees it as an extended display.

  1. Open Windows Settings.
  2. Open System, then Display.
  3. Choose Extend these displays.
  4. Arrange the screens to match their physical positions.
  5. Apply the changes.

Turn on HyperMarquee​

  1. Open Settings in HyperHQ.
  2. Open HyperMarquee under the HyperSpin section.
  3. Turn on HyperMarquee.
  4. Select the marquee display.
  5. Save the settings.
  6. Launch HyperSpin and move between systems and games.

The marquee display should update with the selected item.

Choose a display mode​

Use fullscreen when the marquee has its own display. Use windowed mode when testing on the same display as HyperSpin.

If you select the HyperSpin display for both windows, HyperHQ switches HyperMarquee to windowed mode so the two windows do not cover each other.

Adjust the picture​

Open Settings, HyperMarquee and review the basic image size and position controls.

Start with the default values. Change one option at a time while the marquee display is visible.

  • Use stretch when artwork should fill the full marquee area.
  • Turn stretch off when preserving the original artwork shape matters more.
  • Adjust background position when the important part of an image sits too high or low.

Test your setup​

  1. Keep HyperHQ open on the main display.
  2. Launch HyperSpin.
  3. Move between two systems.
  4. Enter a system and move between two games.
  5. Launch and close one game.

This checks display selection and normal cabinet use in one pass.

Common problems​

Nothing appears on the marquee display​

  • Confirm HyperMarquee is on under Settings, HyperMarquee.
  • Confirm the HyperMarquee plugin is installed under Plugins.
  • Re-select the display after changing Windows display settings.
  • Restart HyperHQ and HyperSpin.

The marquee opens on the wrong screen​

Open Settings, HyperMarquee and select the display again. Windows display IDs often change after a monitor or video adapter is disconnected.

The marquee covers HyperSpin​

Select a different display. If you are testing with one screen, use windowed mode.

The image looks stretched​

Turn stretch off and check the artwork again. A wide marquee image fits a cabinet display better than square cover art.

The Windows taskbar appears on the marquee​

Use the taskbar control in Settings, HyperMarquee for the selected display. Restart HyperMarquee after changing the setting.

Artwork does not change​

Return to HyperHQ and confirm the selected system or game has marquee media. Restart HyperSpin after adding new media.
